The community that these women live in is called Lumpa-555 village. They received their RSWR grant in January 2017 and each initial beneficiary was loaned $82 to buy peppers (both fresh and dried) and palm oil. Prior to receiving their grant, they had training in how to manage a micro-enterprise project and appointed officers within the group to manage the project. The women planned and organized for how much to save and at what rate to pay back their loans to also allow for supporting their families on their income. In their six month report, RSWR staff reported: “The project has boosted the livelihood of the families of these women. Now the women are able to pay school fees and provide books, pens, pencils, and even lunch for their children.” They are also happy that each woman now has a savings account for future emergency needs.
