July 2018

Kipchekwen Friends Women Group struggled to find sustainable funding for their businesses for several years. Loans from the county government were small with high interest rates. The group then arranged a training with Equity Bank in the hopes of receiving a bank loan, however the bank required title deeds for security and none of the women owned land.

The chairwoman of the group is a Quaker, and at East Africa Yearly Meeting she took a workshop on Women in Business where she learned about Right Sharing's work among Kenyan women. The chairwoman invited RSWR Field Representative Samson Ababu to visit the group and explain the RSWR program, which he did. The women in the group were interested and applied for a RSWR grant.

The group has had several training sessions to improve their business knowledge, including one from One Acre Fund on farm management and dealing in farm produce, and one from Care International on how to keep accounts and business records.
