We recommend these resources to those interested in learning more about Quaker perspectives on community care and global interdependence.

Quaker Earthcare Witness (QEW) is a network of Quakers in North America focused on "taking spirit-led action to address ecological and social crises from a spiritual perspective, emphasizing Quaker process and testimonies, including continuing revelation." RSWR recommends QEW to those who wish to seek greater community and activism around the consequences of rampant consumerism and global inequity.

"Money and Soul" by Pamela Haines, Pendle Hill Pamphlet #450 (2018). This pamphlet "explores our troubled relationship with money, with finance, and with the economic system in which we are all entangled." It focuses both on the changes in the larger political economy that have resulted in the current system, but also offers opportunities for individuals to consider their personal practices and choices.

"Sickness, Suffering, and Healing: More Stories from Another Place" by Tom Gates, Pendle Hill Pamphlet #341 (1998). Written by current RSWR Board member Tom Gates, this pamphlet is the second of two reflections on the three years Tom, his wife Elizabeth (also on the RSWR Board), and their two sons spent at Friends Lugulu Hospital in rural western Kenya (1991-1994).

New Dream is an organization that "empowers individuals, communities, and organizations to transform the ways they consume to improve well-being for people and the planet." Although not a Quaker organization, New Dream has many resources (many of them family-friendly) to go deeper into these topics and change behaviors.

16 This is what the Lord has commanded: ‘Everyone is to gather as much as they need. Take an omer for each person you have in your tent.’ 17 The Israelites did as they were told; some gathered much, some little. 18 And when they measured it by the omer, the one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little. Everyone had gathered just as much as they needed.

Exodus 16:16-18
